Rebecca in Blue Reworked
Nov 21, 2021
When I first started doing portraits, I used colored pencil and grew to absolutely love the medium. It is amazing what artists do with pencils these days. This piece was a portrait I drew on green Canson paper, and foolishly stored in a damp basement. The drawing got wet, but the pencil drawing remained intact, so I restretched the paper and put paint and collage elements over it. I hated to trash it and I like the results! I’ve heard that it is never a good idea to throw old work away. Paint over it, cut it up for collage, reimagine…there are no bad paintings, only unfinished ones. Not sure I believe that, but I like the idea!!
