collage painting of the bride of Frankenstein

As a child I was fascinated with movie monsters and lurid movie posters—it was exciting to be afraid. But not too afraid! I had a deck of classic movie monster collection cards that I hid in an end table drawer by our living room couch. If I got really brave, I would whip open the drawer and take a peek. And then slam the drawer closed again. One of my favorites was Elsa Lanchester as the bride of Frankenstein. I started with a small painting I painted for a Halloween work bulletin board of all things and then glued it to a larger board when I got her back. She grew in power as I imagined her “Unbridled” and a powerful monster in her own right. I am thinking of doing a classic monster collection of my own!
